---- Inspiring Young People through contact with wildlife ----
The Friends of Troopers Hill are very keen that people of all ages should benefit from the Local Nature Reserve. This page links to some of the projects we have run with young people.
We also organise and support lots of Events that are aimed at getting younger people involved in the hill and to help them to appreciate and respect its unique environment.
During 2018 & 19 Friends of Troopers Hill worked in partnership with a team of 16-25 year olds, our 'Young Rangers', to create projects to protect the Nature Reserve for future generations.
Groundwork South provided training, mentoring and support to the team to
grow confidence and skills in conservation,
woodcraft, foraging, first aid, campaigning, mentoring,
video making, podcasting and more.
This volunteer programme was free and part of Kick The Dust: Future Proof Parks.
We are pleased that some of our Young Rangers are now established members of Friends of Troopers Hill.
The Young Rangers led on the organisation of our Art Competition to celebrate 25 years of Troopers Hill as a Local Nature Reserve.
Some of the other activities that our team of Young Rangers took part in, included a Scavenger Hunt in May 2019 and a Conservation Work Party as part of three days of activities on the Hill in August 2019.
Our Young Rangers also established a Friends of Troopers Hill Instagram page which they continue to manage for us:
