The Coal Authority Apologises for any inconvenience...

--- Posting from our now closed Forum ---
Work has started on making the mineshaft at the top of the hill safe. The Coal Authority contractors moved on to the site today. They have set up camp in the Field and have removed some of topsoil in the crater. We haven't heard anything yet about what they have found. Work will continue on Monday.

Popped over for a look myself this morning. They seem to have caused a disturbance - the bottom of the crater was full of large angry wasps, there appears to be a big ol' nest down there.

Is that a small dog I spy, sitting on the bench waiting for a jolly big bone?

It could be thinking any one the following-
1]I don`t remember burying it this deep
2]I hope it is as big as I think it is
3] So good of everybody to go to so much trouble over a bone
4] I wish I could dig as fast and as deep.

and also:
5) I was dragged barking & kicking out of that hole by the Parkie a few weeks ago, incase it collapsed under me... looking at that machine... Just how heavy am I???

If case you hadn't noticed that nasty fencing has now gone from around the ex-mineshaft. Our Parkie has proved his green credentials yet again and recycled some of the fencing at the Greendown entrance, where the planting is now revealed in all its glory, now that the chestnut paling has been removed.

Many thanks to Jules and Carol for all their hard work.
