We were delighted to be contacted about the "I would be here if I could" Mirrorbox project by one of our members, Lizzy Horn, who lives locally. Lizzy has worked really hard to have Troopers Hill included in the list of host sites and in fact the Mirror Box is starting its journey around the UK at Troopers Hill.
A map, a mirrored box, hundreds of messages, so many voices. A journey is starting across the UK, connecting those now absent with those who stand at their place.
I would be here if I could, has grown into the UK’s largest collaborative social art project, co-created with individuals living with ME and Long Covid.
What began as a single question from a bed has evolved into a nationwide movement, inviting hundreds of people to take part.
On a very breezy day, the Mirrorbox was placed on the Hill near the chimney, to one side of the paved access path. Throughout the day there was a steady stream of visitors queuing to hear Lizzy's moving message describing why she loves Troopers Hill so much and why she would be here if she could.
This event was organised by the 'I would be here if I could' project, with permission from Bristol City Council and support from Friends of Troopers Hill.
