The Chimmley on troopers hill

Hi
Does anyone know of the Troopers hill chimmley being cleaned during its use, as a flue for the copper smelting that was on this site.
Many thanks

Re: The Chimmley on troopers hill

That's an intersting question.
As far as we know it was built in the 1790s and used first by copper smelters. Later it was used by a chemical works and probably went out of use at the time of the 1st World War.
The chimney itself has been repaired several times, much of the arch was missing in the 1970s as shown in the photo on our history page.
So I don't know whether it was cleaned or not, but if you were wondering whether there is any residue left from the smelting then I think it would be unlikely.
