Grant for Tai Chi classes
Just before Christmas I applied for a small grant from the Bristol Primary Care Trust to pay for four Tai Chi classes to held in the open air on Troopers Hill Field. As you may know Tai Chi is an excellent, gentle form of exercise that particularly helps with core stability and balance. This can be particularly helpful to older people.
I am delighted to say that we have been successful and will receive the grant.
For the dates of the tai chi classes please visit our events page here. There is also an events leaflet you can print here
Best wishes,
Susan

Re: Grant for Tai Chi classes
May I ask the amount of grant that, presumably (Bristol) PCT gave you, will you ensure that participants will only be from that PCT or will you allow ECR's from other PCT's?

Hey Rog, welcome back - you've been missed. At the risk of sticking my head in the noose - PCTs I got, but ECRs?
Postal Area (eg BS5): BS5

Re: Grant for Tai Chi classes
A complicated way of calculating which 'hospital' (provider) gets what, since, it seems 'troopers hill LNR' is now a 'provider' it must be carefull to only take referals from the PCT that funds it. An ECR is an Extra Contractural Referral, not saying anyone would kick up a stink, but in this day and age where specific drugs for cancer treatment have a postcode lottery..............anyway, you know what I mean....
Like I said, politics stinks and health is at the forefront of smells :-)

Re: Grant for Tai Chi classes
Welcome back, Roger, we missed you. Sounds like an extremely uncomfortable and painful time. I hope you are completely recovered.
As far as I am aware there is no geographical restriction on who can attend the classes. The application was made to benefit the older members of our local community and the money is coming from a projct called LinkAge. I have to talk to a project worker from LinkAge to arrange receipt of the money so I will let you know if any restrictions arise.
All the best,
Susan

Re: Grant for Tai Chi classes
Sue, I am absolutely sure that you think that you are right.
It's not a position that I ,personaly, would be happy to take and for that I commend you.
Happy to comment next time my 'back' permits me to sit in front of a PC.

Re: Grant for Tai Chi classes
Roger,
I hope you are recovering and that we will see you at a meeting or work party again soon. By the way our chair's name is Susan, I should warn you that you risk further injury by using Sue!
As with all our events the Tai Chi will be open to anyone who wants to take part and everyone is welcome. There is no restriction on numbers but we would like people to let us know if they are intending to take part to give us some idea of numbers in advance.

Re: Grant for Tai Chi classes
As regards PCT events and restrictions here is one that I received details of last night that is very definitely open to all. See these details
By the way we are not a "provider" just the recipient of a grant for events to benefit the health of the local community.
All the best,
Susan
