Troopers Hill is Green Flag Winner!

We're delighted to be able to announce today that Troopers Hill has been successful in gaining a Green Flag!

This is a very prestigious award as it represents a national standard in parks and green spaces. It is a way of highlighting the best green spaces in the country and is fantastic publicity for Troopers Hill.

Entering the award involved a lot of hard work on behalf of both Bristol Parks and the Friends of Troopers Hill and it is great for everyone to have their efforts rewarded.

In order to keep the flag, however, we have to enter the scheme again next year and prove to the judges that we are still up to scratch!

We do get an actual green flag to display on a flagpole. Rob and Susan from Friends of Troopers Hill and Phil from Bristol Parks will be collecting the flag at a ceremony in Leeds at the end of July. I look forward to seeing it flying on the hill!

Re: Troopers Hill is Green Flag Winner!

I hope everyone will agree that it is fantastic news.
Thanks again to everyone at Bristol Parks for all their efforts in achieving this.

Susan and I were very pleased to be invited to the Awards Ceremony and will be proud to be representing Friends of Troopers Hill. We were planning to be in Leeds anyway next week on our narrowboat so we thought that the fact that the ceremony was being held there was a good omen. Unfortutately the floods up there mean that arriving by boat isn't now possible, so we will be booking a hotel.

Now we have to decide where to put the flagpole!

Hooray! Well done everyone!

Can't we put a mini-flagpole on the top of the chimney? Where vandals can't get it.

Well done to all those who put a lot of hard work and effort into making Troopers Hill what it is and for achieving the Green Flat status.

Sorry we've been absent from the board since moving away but we have been keeping an eye on you all to see how you're doing. So many congratulations on this astounding achievement!!! Of course, isn't this when the work really starts?...!

You really are such an amazing group of people that I never had any doubt in mind that you would be able to pull this off. You all deserve the recognition for having such a strong team and also some wonderful individuals to lead the way.

Very well done!

Re: Troopers Hill is Green Flag Winner!

Good to hear from you and quite a coincidence because we were only talking about you last night. A direct email will be on its way to you straight after this posting.

Yes, we are very pleased and pround that Troopers Hill has been awarded a Green Flag. With only the Downs and us having a Green Flag we feel Troopers Hill is very special. We had gazebos up on the Hill yesterday and Friday proudly displaying the flag as part of our information display.

You are quite right. Having got the Green Flag we now have to keep it next year and that means we have to be even better then and show that we and Bristol Parks are sticking to our management plan.

Many thanks for your congratulations and thank you, Jen and Ben, for your help in getting us there to the Green Flag.

Hope we see you back in Bristol soon.

All the best,

Susan
