Path, Benches & Interpretation Board

What does everyone think about the path and benches now they have been in place for a while?
As some of you will know I was very keen that the new seats should be flat benches without backs so that they were visually less intrusive. Having got used to them, having seen them in use and having spoken to people about them - I was wrong. I think the seats as installed are the right ones for the location.
The interpretation board has been very popular, every evening there seems to be someone reading it. Also I know the path has allowed at least two wheelchair users to access the top of the hill would wouldn't have been able to otherwise.
So thanks again to YANSEC for the initial funding of the path and especially to everyone involved at Bristol Parks for all your hard work this year.

Re: Path, Benches & Interpretation Board

As I originally said, I was happy with the idea of benches with a back, much more comfortable for admiring the view.

The path follows a much better line than originally marked out, however, the amount of loose surface chippings is rather more than expected compared with, say, the Avon cycleway , which is similarly constucted.

Perhaps our path has not (and perhaps, will not) see the level of use that will displace the excess chippings.

Re: Path, Benches & Interpretation Board

The excess loose chippings are going to be removed but the supplier's advice is that they should be left in place for at least 6 months so that chippings get properly bedded into the surfacing. If they are brushed off too soon we might get bare patches. The exact time depends on the amount of use - the more the path is used the sooner it is bedded in. Parks will have a look in the Autumn and decide.

That sounds a sensible approach

You know my views I still don't like the path - the odd bench is acceptable. At least they are still in one piece. The information board is OK but would have preferred that on the entrances only
